Submit Your Film for World Water Forum

The International Water and Film Events (IWFE) is an international water film contest that takes place every three years during the World Water Forum. The next contest will take place from 16-22 March, 2009, in Istanbul, during the 5th World Water Forum. The theme for this forum will be “Water, People and Sustainable Development.” 
IWFE is a joint initiative of the International Secretariat for Water (ISW) and the French Water Academy. Around one hundred films and clips selected over a two-year period will be screened. The purpose of the films is to:
  • Enrich the World Water Forum program
  • Inform the public and raise awareness about the challenges in water resource management
  • Promote audiovisual material on the theme of water
  • Build up the image banks available on this topic
Films over 60 minutes long, such as documentaries, and animations can be screened during the World Water Forum; however they will not be entered into any of the competitions.
For clips less than 90 seconds long made by young people aged from 17 to 30 prize money is:
  • The Gold Droplet US$ 3 000
  • The Silver Droplet US$ 2 000
  • The Bronze Droplet US$ 1 000
For the other two Competition Categories; films less than 60 minutes long and films of a scientific and pedagogical nature, the prizes are:
  • The Gold Droplet US$ 5,000
  • The Silver Droplet US$ 3,000
  • The Bronze Droplet US$ 1,500
Three special prizes will also be awarded:
  • The “Climate Change” Prize US$2,000
  • The “WASH Water supply, sanitation and hygiene” Prize US$ 2,000
  • The “Testimony” Prize US$ 2,000
