For 48 hours computer programmers, designers and other information technology specialists competed in 10 cities around the world to create easily deployable, scalable, and sustainable technological tools that respond to water and sanitation challenges.

This year, the World Bank/Water and Sanitation Program’s calendar depicts water and sanitation challenges from a gender perspective to call attention to some of the social norms that result from, and reinforce poor service quality.
